The Road to Shark Tank – Our Journey to the Pitch
Share
From the very beginning of GoodEgg, Shark Tank lived in the back of our minds. When we launched on Kickstarter in July of 2023, we dreamed about the possibility of one day standing in front of the Sharks to share our story and our products. It felt like something that might happen “someday” if we were lucky enough.
In the spring of 2025, that dream became real when, out of the blue, we were contacted by a casting producer from SHARK TANK! They had seen one of our ads and loved the energy and story behind our brand. The next thing we knew, we were on a video call being asked about our company, our products, and most importantly our personalities.
It turns out Shark Tank is just as much about the people as it is about the product. Could we tell our story in a compelling way? Could we bring energy and authenticity to TV? That’s what they wanted to see.
After that first call, things moved fast. We were asked to submit an audition video, and instead of simply recording a phone pitch like they suggested, we went all out. We staged a big reveal by popping our heads out of our chicken nesting boxes. Quirky, fun, and very us. Within hours of sending it in, we received an excited response from the team…
Then came the whirlwind. We had to refine our pitch, practice it repeatedly, and send updated versions for feedback. We worked with producers over Zoom to hone the story so it struck the right balance of humor, heart, and business savvy. At the same time, we scrambled to get our financials in order, update our business charter, and prepare documents we had never needed before.
On top of that, we wanted our presentation to reflect the same creativity and care we put into our products. With filming dates closing in, our set designs had to be built and delivered in a matter of days. In an incredible act of support, family members stepped in (thank you Vic and Carol 🫶), working long hours to build the set pieces and driving them across state lines so everything would be ready in California on time.
The weeks leading up to the taping were filled with late nights, rehearsals, and countless run-throughs. We fine-tuned our pitch until it became second nature. By the time we boarded the plane to LA, we knew we had poured every ounce of energy, creativity, and heart into our preparation.
When we finally stood backstage, moments away from walking through those iconic doors, the weight of it hit us: two years ago, this was a dream. Now, we were about to pitch our company on national television.
We can’t wait for you to see how it all unfolded.
👉 Tune in to Shark Tank on ABC, Wednesday October 8th at 10/9c.
